      The Department of Administration provides efficient administrative, technological, and financial support services to citizens, customers, departments, and stakeholders of the City of Jackson in an effort to ensure that effective and needed services are provided to all constituents.

      Our goal is to provide fiscal leadership and superior financial services through efficient management of the City’s financial resources.

      The administrative arm of the City of Jackson is the Department of Administration, which incorporates the division of Finance, Purchasing, Budget, Treasury Management, Information Services, Geographical Information Systems, Telecommunications, Publications, and Municipal Court Services.

    • Department of Municipal Clerk

      The oldest of public servants in local government, the mission of the Municipal Clerk’s Office is to maintain the integrity of all governmental processes, provide administrative and technical support to all City departments, protect and preserve official city documents, and assist with all municipal elections.

      The Municipal Clerk reports directly to the Mayor and works with all departments and the public. The Municipal Clerk is responsible for all duties statutorily set forth in the Mississippi Code of 1972, Annotated (MCA), including the following:

      All Municipal Elections and Voter Registration
      Keeping and maintaining all official City records
      Bid Openings
      Publications
      City Ordinances
      Processing of public records requests

      The Information Technology Department provides forward thinking support, maintenance and installation support and service to the various citizens, customers, departments, and stakeholders of the City of Jackson in an effort to ensure that the city’s ability to be of service is efficient, reliable and straightforward.

      Our goal is to provide technological leadership and security through efficient management of the City’s digital assets.

      The technology arm of the City of Jackson is the Information Technology Department, which incorporates the division of Database Administration, IT Accounting, IT Support, Networking, Project Administration, Publications, Systems Administration & Telecommunications.

      The department endeavors to both expand and protect the city’s ability to provide the services and duties expected with integrity and convenience.

      The Honorable Chokwe Antar Lumumba

      On July 3, 2017, Chokwe Antar Lumumba became the 53rd mayor of the City of Jackson, Mississippi. He was 34 years old, making him the youngest mayor in Jackson’s history. He is an attorney, a husband, a father, and the son of two life-long community activists—the late Mayor Chokwe Lumumba and Nubia Lumumba.
